Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join a focused team in evaluating and simulating cyber-physical systems. You will architect, implement, and test modular software tools for emulation, and work with lab equipment to characterize complex hardware.

You will participate in proposals, rehost firmware, and ensure models align with first principles and measured data. A Secret clearance and C/C++/Python expertise are key for success.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required and active security clearance eligibility.
• 5+ years of experience with BS/BA or 3 years with MS/MA; PhD not required.
• Ability to develop rapid prototype solutions using a mix of COTS and custom designs.
• Experience with emulation frameworks (e.g., QEMU) in C/C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, implement, and test modular software tools for emulating cyber-physical systems.
• Characterize and debug complex electronic systems using lab equipment.
• Lead lab-based acquisition and control platform development for hardware tests.
• Serve as hardware team representative on interdisciplinary efforts and provide system insight.
• Contribute to proposals with technical path, BOM, cost, and schedule estimates.
• Rehost unknown firmware by analyzing binaries and adapting for emulated environments.
• Verify model quality via unit and system testing against data and docs.
