Job summary

DISHER is seeking a Hardware Engineer to lead electronic hardware design on cross-functional teams. You will prototype, shape technical direction, and influence product strategy from concept to launch, engaging directly on customer projects.

You will collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and software teams, lead design reviews, and develop tests for pre-compliance validation. Strong communication and an entrepreneurial mindset are key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electronics/Electrical Eng or related field.
• 10+ years in electrical hardware design or product development.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites; mostly local in West Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and software teams for full product development.
• Lead design, development and validation of electronic hardware systems.
• Build, prototype, debug, and document hardware for new products.
• Apply circuit analysis, modeling, thermal management, and EMC principles.
• Engage with customers on-site, providing technical leadership.
• Lead hardware design reviews and guide technical decisions.
• Develop and execute test strategies including pre-compliance testing.
• Estimate tasks, timelines, and scope for engagements.
• Contribute to internal tools, processes and best practices.
• Support business development with technical input on proposals.

DISHER is currently seeking a Hardware Engineer to play a central role on our cross-functional product development team. In this role, you will bring your deep experience in electronic hardware design and early-stage product development, rapidly building functional prototypes, shaping technical direction, and influencing product strategy from concept through launch. We are looking for someone that is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and engaging directly on customer projects. You will also have software and/or systems engineering fluency and will play an important role helping define and evolve DISHER's electronics strategy to best serve client needs. • Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design or product development.
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial, adaptable mindset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaped undefined requirements.
• Proven experience with schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware bring-up.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and ability to collaborate effectively with software teams.
• Experience with lab validation, testing, and regulatory/pre-compliance processes.
• Ability to travel to customer sites is essential (mostly local in West Michigan but sometimes domestic).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customers.
• Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States of America without restrictions or expirations.
