Job summary

DISHER in Michigan is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead electronic hardware design from concept through launch, collaborating across electrical, mechanical, and software teams and engaging directly with customers on-site.

You will prototype, validate, and document hardware designs, apply circuit analysis and EMC practices, mentor engineers, and help evolve DISHER's electronics strategy while occasionally traveling to client sites.

Qualifications

• BS in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of hardware design or product development experience.
• Strong problem-solving in ambiguous environments.
• Experience with schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware bring-up.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites (primarily local West Michigan, with domestic trips).

DISHER is currently seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to play a central role on our cross-functional product development team. In this role, you will bring your deep experience in electronic hardware design and early-stage product development, rapidly building functional prototypes, shaping technical direction, and influencing product strategy from concept through launch. We are looking for someone that is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and engaging directly on customer projects. You will also have software and/or systems engineering fluency and will play an important role helping define and evolve DISHER's electronics strategy to best serve client needs. What you will get to do:

• Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, and software teams to support full product development.
• Lead the design, development and validation of electronic hardware systems, including circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.

What will make you successful:

• Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical hardware design or product development.
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial, adaptable mindset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaped undefined requirements.
• Proven experience with schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware bring-up.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and ability to collaborate effectively with software teams.
• Experience with lab validation, testing, and regulatory/pre‑compliance proceses.
• Ability to travel to customer sites is essential (mostly local in West Michigan but sometimes domestic).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customers.
• Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States of America without restrictions or expirations.
