Job summary

Integrated Solutions for Systems (IS4S) in Auburn, AL is seeking a junior or mid-level Hardware Engineer (Electrical and/or Mechanical) to design custom electronic enclosures with wiring harnesses, mil-spec connectors, and embedded processing for military applications. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and sustainment of complex test systems for PNT and avionics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation tools (Altium, Cadence, SPICE).
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum/logic analyzers.
• Familiarity with military standards and specifications related to electrical hardware design.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded, high-speed electronics for sensing, communication, and other equipment.
• Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulation for new hardware designs, ensuring compliance with military standards and requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
• Generate detailed hardware specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts for advanced hardware boards, custom electronic enclosures, and wiring harnesses with mil-spec connectors.
• Perform prototype testing, troubleshooting, and validation of avionics systems using the designed equipment.

Job Description:

IS4S is seeking a junior or mid-level Hardware Engineer (Electrical and/or Mechanical) with expertise in designing custom electronic enclosures with complex wiring harness, MIL-Spec connectors, and custom-embedded system processing to support military and government applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and sustainment of complex test systems for PNT (positioning, navigation, and timing) and avionics applications. Applicants must clearly state citizenship and any active clearance in a cover letter or on the resume.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop embedded, high-speed electronics for sensing, communication, and other equipment.
• Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulation for new hardware designs, ensuring compliance with military standards and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Electromagnetic interference and compatibility (EMI/EMC) principles
• Understanding of electronics thermal management
• Coding skills with Matlab, Python, and/or C++
• Design and analysis experience using industry standard tools (COMSOL, ANSYS, Matlab, Python, etc)
• Experience with avionics systems
