Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a Senior Hardware/Embedded Systems Engineering lead for the New Glenn program. You will guide hardware and firmware activities, translate system requirements into detailed technical plans, and own day-to-day execution across hardware, firmware, integration, and validation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hardware and embedded systems development with leadership experience.
• Background in embedded systems, board-level design, integration, and debugging.
• Experience developing connected hardware products through prototype to manufacturing.
• Familiarity with embedded platforms, firmware architecture, boot flows, and bring-up.
• Knowledge of power, thermal, digital and mechanical constraints in complex hardware.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and external manufacturers.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, and cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and embedded software development activities within the terminal program.
• Build a high-performing team to achieve program goals.
• Translate system requirements into detailed technical plans and milestones.
• Own day-to-day engineering execution for hardware, firmware, integration, and validation.
• Collaborate with design, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to align priorities.
• Drive prototype bring-up, debugging, and verification.
• Support manufacturability, testability, reliability, and cost-reduction efforts.
• Work with contract manufacturers and internal ops on build readiness and transfer.
• Ensure embedded software meets bring-up, control, diagnostics, and field update needs.
• Track milestones, surface risks, and resolve blockers.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to reviews and process improvements.
