Job summary

Broadcom Inc. is seeking a Hardware Applications Engineer to join our AI Networking Infrastructure team on-site in San Jose. You will provide hardware technical support, assist with board bring-up, and validate Broadcom’s semiconductor solutions in lab environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver design guidance, documentation, and hands-on troubleshooting, while applying strong PCB, power management, and signal integrity fundamentals to customer projects.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSEE, BSCE or related field with 2–6 years in hardware engineering or validation.
• Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering, PCB design, and lab testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for customer-facing design guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide hardware design support, schematic/PCB review, and develop design guides and notes.

Role Overview

Broadcom is seeking a motivated Hardware Applications Engineer to join our AI Networking Infrastructure team on-site, working with Enterprise, high-growth Frontier Labs, and Hyperscalers. In this evolving role, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to provide hardware technical support, board-level debug assistance, and laboratory validation for Broadcom’s industry-leading semiconductor solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Support & Design Guidance: Provide hardware design support and technical guidance throughout the product lifecycle. Assist with schematic and PCB layout reviews, component selection, and reference board bring-up. Help create and maintain customer-facing technical documentation guiding board design, including design guides, application notes, and layout recommendations.
• Hands-on Lab Testing & Troubleshooting: Perform hands-on board bring-up, debugging, and functional testing in the lab. Utilize standard lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) to diagnose and resolve hardware issues. Assist with basic board rework and electrical characterization.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering (BSCE), or related engineering field.
• Experience: 2–6 years of experience in hardware engineering, applications support, board design, or hardware validation.
• Core Requirements: Solid understanding of general electrical engineering and PCB design fundamentals. Hands-on experience working in a hardware lab with standard test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies). Basic understanding of power management, thermal principles, and board-level interconnects. Ability to create clear, customer-facing technical documentation and design guidance. Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Familiarity with high-speed serial interfaces (such as SerDes) and signal integrity fundamentals. Experience evaluating DC-DC power converters or power delivery networks (PDN). Familiarity with AI-coding tools (Claude/Codex) Experience with high-speed PCB stack-up and impedance control design rules.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 101,000.00 To USD 162,000.00. As a valued member of our team, you'll be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and the opportunity to receive not only a competitive new hire equity grant, but also annual equity awards, connecting your success directly to the company's growth. All subject to relevant plan documents and award agreements.
