Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a hardscape/landscape construction crew on job sites.
- Work hands-on alongside your crew, providing daily leadership, direction, and training.
- Review project plans, layouts, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
- Perform project layout, establish proper grades and elevations, and oversee site preparation.
- Manage excavation, base preparation, drainage, compaction, and installation processes.
- Install patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, drainage systems, and other landscape construction features.
- Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, and saws.
- Organize labor, materials, equipment, and daily production to keep projects on schedule.
- Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, quality, and jobsite safety.
- Inspect work throughout the project, proactively addressing issues to ensure quality results.
- Communicate project progress, material needs, and challenges with management.
- Complete required job documentation, including photos and time entries.
- Represent Gerhart’s Landscaping professionally with clients and other contractors.
Qualifications
- Professional experience in hardscape or landscape construction is required.
- Previous experience as a Crew Leader or Foreman is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in paver patio and walkway installation, retaining wall construction, steps, and outdoor living installations.
- Skilled in excavation, grading, establishing elevations, drainage installation, base preparation, and compaction.
- Ability to read plans, perform layouts, and manage daily production and quality.
- Strong equipment operation skills (skid steer, mini excavator, etc.).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including training and developing crew members.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Industry certifications (such as ICPI) and bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus, but not required.
Compensation
$32.00–$40.00+ per hour, based on experience and demonstrated abilities. Candidates with advanced skills in hardscape construction, equipment operation, layout, grading, and crew leadership will be considered at the upper end of the range.
