Job summary

Groundwork Outdoor Living in San Carlos, CA seeks a Hardscape Foreman – Lead for premium residential outdoor living installs. This hands-on role leads small crews and delivers pristine paver and retaining wall projects.

You will train crews, operate equipment, coordinate with the Project Manager, and ensure safety and quality on each site. A California driver’s license is required; English/Spanish bilingualism is a plus.

The Opportunity

You will serve as our founding field leader, working directly on the tools while managing small crews on high-end residential hardscape builds. This hands‑on role puts you at the center of our growth across the Peninsula, giving you direct access to ownership and clear career advancement. You will have full support to deliver pristine paver and retaining wall installations for a company that values true craftsmanship.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Lead on‑site crews of 2 to 4 workers while actively installing pavers, retaining walls, and drainage systems.
• Direct daily base preparation, soil compaction, edge restraint placement, and precise grade transitions on every site.
• Operate skid steers, mini excavators, and drive company trucks with trailers safely to execute site work.
• Maintain clear daily communication with Spanish‑speaking crew members and English‑speaking clients in the field.
• Solve unexpected field obstacles directly on‑site and present clear solutions to the Project Manager.
• Train and mentor junior crew members on proper installation techniques, safety protocols, and trade skills.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in residential hardscape, paver, and retaining wall construction.
• At least 2 years of proven experience leading small installation crews on residential jobsites.
• Daily operational experience with skid steers, mini excavators, and towing utility trailers.
• High bilingual conversational proficiency in English and Spanish.
• A valid California driver's license and a clean, safe DMV driving record.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Hold a current CMHA/ICPI certification or express an active desire to obtain one.
• Proven track record of stable employment with established Bay Area hardscape contractors.
• Experience executing complex underground utilities, custom drainage, and high‑end outdoor living scope.
