Job summary

Scheels is seeking a dedicated maintenance/assembly technician to service and repair store equipment including firearms, scopes, archery gear, fishing reels, grills, and smokers. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and high standards of workmanship.

The candidate should have an associate degree or 1–2 years of related experience, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to interpret safety docs. A flexible schedule and teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 1–2 years related experience and mechanical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to complete basic mathematical equations.
• Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently provide maintenance and assembly of store equipment including firearms, scopes, archery equipment, reels, grills and smokers.
• Maintain accurate records for store and customer equipment.
• Archery repairs: bow setup, tuning, arrow cutting and fletching.
• Firearms repairs: mounting scopes, bore sighting, and setup packages for gun shops.
• Ensure a clean and professional environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned by Leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently provide maintenance and assembly of customer and store equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: Firearms, scopes, archery equipment, Fishing reels, grills & smokers
• Maintain accurate and detailed records for store and customer equipment
• Archery repairs, including: full setup of a bow, tuning and repairs, cutting and fletching arrows
• Firearms repairs, including mounting scopes & optics, bore sighting, set up packages for all gun shops
• Ensure a clean and Professional Environment
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
• Ability to complete basic mathematical equations
• Ability to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, holidays, and scheduled training meetings
• Complete other duties as assigned by Leadership

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree from a 2-year college or technical school, or 1-2 years of related experience and training, as well as mechanical skills and knowledge.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
