Job summary

Curtin Maritime is hiring a Ship Assist & Escort Mate based in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area. The role supports the Port Captain and Vessel Captain aboard Curtin's ASD tugs, ensuring safe docking, undocking, and escort of deep-draft vessels in a busy harbor.

The position requires leadership, crisis management, crew supervision, and strict adherence to Curtin standards. A valid Mate of Tow Vessels near Coastal credential and STCW Survival Craft are preferred.

Qualifications

• Harbor Mate experience, ship-assist/escort preference.
• TWIC card and towing vessel qualifications required.
• STCW Survival Craft certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead ship-assist and escort operations in San Pedro Bay Port Complex.
• Support Captain and pilots in docking/undocking of deep-draft vessels.
• Ensure Curtin Standard is followed and safety protocols are in place.
