Core Group Resources is seeking an experienced Harbor Pilot to support our marine operations team. The role involves navigating, maneuvering, and operating vessels within harbor, river, and industrial environments with a strong emphasis on safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities include docking and undocking, coordinating with deck crews, ensuring vessel seaworthiness, and maintaining clear radio communications with authorities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate harbor boats, push boats, and assist vessels in docking, undocking, shifting, and positioning.
• Maneuver barges and vessels in confined waterways, locks, docks, and terminals, coordinating with deck crews.
• Ensure vessel safety, crew awareness, and compliance with US Coast Guard regulations and maritime laws.
• Monitor river/harbor conditions, traffic, weather, tides, and currents for safe movement.
• Maintain clear radio communication with dispatch, port authorities, lock operators, and other vessels.
• Respond to emergencies, including mechanical failures, fire, man-overboard, and spill response.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vessel inspections, report deficiencies, and ensure seaworthiness.
• Lead deck crew operations, provide guidance, and support training for safety.
• Complete logs, reports, and regulatory documentation accurately and on time.

Requirements

• Valid US Coast Guard license and medical certification appropriate for vessel type and tonnage (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Valid driver’s license and Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Ability to meet physical demands, including climbing ladders and working in extreme weather conditions.
• Must meet vision, hearing, and respiratory requirements, including passing a pulmonary function test (>85%).
• Willingness to work away from home for 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, with additional hours as operational needs require.
