nextSource is seeking a Handyperson for three-month assignments at Morningside Campus in upper Manhattan. The role reinforces the Facilities Department by maintaining residential buildings and grounds, performing minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and plastering work, and conducting preventive maintenance to ensure safe, well-kept environments.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of related experience, plus the ability to lift 50 lbs and climb

nextSource manages recruitment programs for major universities. We have immediate needs for handypersons in upper Manhattan for three-month assignments. A HS diploma, GED, or higher required.

Position Summary

A Handyperson is a position in the Facilities Department providing high quality and effective work to the residential buildings and grounds area and are responsible for the maintenance of these buildings.

Responsibilities

• Minor building and grounds repair.
• Preventive maintenance for several medium-sized apartment buildings.
• Performs minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and plastering work.
• Inspects building and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper working conditions.
• Removes snow and spreads salts as needed.
• In the absence of building superintendent may assist with supervising of the building employees and arranging work schedules.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and push up to 100lbs.
• Must be able to go up/down ladders if needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or its equivalent required.
• Three years of related experience required.
• Some heavy lifting may be required.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Some supervisory experience preferred.

Work Schedule

The schedules are usually Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

• Days: 5 days a week
• Schedule: up to 8-hour shift
• Contract duration: 3 months
• Contract: Full-time, Temporary
• Pay Rate: $24.36 per hour
• Weekly pay
• Location: Morningside Campus
