Job summary

ABM Industries in Sparks, NV is seeking a frontline maintenance assistant responsible for general building upkeep, basic repairs, and routine tasks under the engineering team's guidance.

You will assist with lighting, plumbing, and handyman work, maintain supplies, and support contractors while following safety procedures. Some weekend hours may be required.

Strong customer service and ability to follow instructions are important; high school diploma preferred, 1 year related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of general maintenance, handyman, construction, or related experience preferred.
• Familiarity with mobile devices and smartphones.

Responsibilities

• Assist the engineering team with preventive maintenance activities, inspections, and routine work orders.
• Perform basic lighting maintenance and restroom repairs.
• Complete general handyman tasks: patching, painting, caulking, ceiling tile replacement.
• Monitor stock, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Assist with maintenance or repair work performed by outside contractors.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and mechanical or engineering spaces.
• Follow safety policies and training; may work extended hours or weekends as needed.

Job description

This role provides general building maintenance support and completes routine, non specialized repairs under the direction of the engineering team. The focus is on dependable facility upkeep, basic repairs, housekeeping, and responsive customer service rather than advanced system troubleshooting or technical diagnosis.

Pay: $28 Hourly

• Assist the engineering team with preventive maintenance activities, inspections, and routine work orders.
• Perform basic lighting maintenance, such as lamp and accessible fixture replacement, within assigned scope and training.
• Perform minor plumbing and restroom repairs, including fixture adjustments, clogs, and basic component replacement.
• Complete general handyman work, including patching, painting, caulking, ceiling tile replacement, and minor building repairs.
• Monitor and maintain stock, parts, tools, and supplies.
• Assist with maintenance or repair work performed by outside contractors.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and mechanical or engineering spaces.
• Perform all work using proper safety equipment and in a safe manner.
• Follow building policies and procedures and participate in required safety and technical training.
• Work occasional extended hours or weekends as needed.
