Iowa Home Consulting, LLC in Central City, Iowa, is seeking a hands-on handyman who can grow into running their own handyman appointments. You’ll handle a range of residential repairs with practical troubleshooting and clear communication in customers’ homes.

During a 30-day training with the Handyman Manager and Handyman Coordinator, you’ll learn our service mix, pacing, and customer-care approach, with the goal of starting independent appointments afterward.

We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation in residential repair who can grow into running their own handyman appointments. You do not need to be highly proficient in every service we offer on day one.

Our Handyman division handles shorter repairs, installations, maintenance items, and homeowner project lists. The work changes from day to day, so this role calls for practical troubleshooting, good judgment, and clear communication in customers’ homes.

What you’ll do

• Complete a variety of home repairs and improvements, such as drywall and paint touch-ups, trim, door installation, hardware, mounting, minor flooring repairs, caulking, and deck or railing repairs.
• Review appointment notes, photos, and priorities before arriving.
• Help homeowners prioritize what can reasonably be completed during a half-day, full-day, or individually scoped appointment.
• Keep the customer informed when conditions, materials, or priorities change.
• Protect the home, document your work, clean up, and complete a final walkthrough.

What you need coming in

• A demonstrated foundation in several common residential repairs. You do not need to know every service we offer.
• The ability to troubleshoot, recognize the limits of your current skill, and ask for support before proceeding with unfamiliar work.
• A willingness to learn new repair methods and accept feedback.
• Professional communication, dependable attendance, and a valid driver’s license.
• Training and independence

Your intended first month will be spent riding along with our Handyman Manager, our most tenured field employee. You’ll learn our service mix, systems, appointment pacing, and approach to customer care. You will also receive direct support and guidance from the Handyman Coordinator. The goal is for you to begin running suitable appointments independently after approximately 30 days. We’ll base that decision on the work you demonstrate during training and continue supporting you as you expand the types of jobs you can take on.

If you have a promising technical foundation but need more time before running service appointments independently, we may also discuss a Remodeler position opportunity with you.

Compensation and benefits

We offer pay appropriate to the role, along with health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits and profit sharing according to plan terms and eligibility. We’ll explain the specific base pay, profit sharing terms, and any sign-on bonus during the hiring process.
