Job summary

Woolpert in Houston, TX seeks a Water Civil Design Intern to join our Civil design team for the Summer semester. The internship involves 40 hours per week, working on drainage improvements, water distribution projects, and site work under licensed engineers.

You will gain real‑world experience on projects for county and municipal clients, performing calculations, cost estimates and creating design plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Google Earth and ArcPro.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, with an interest in water related infrastructure design.
• Pursuing an Engineer in Training Certification upon graduation and your Professional Engineer licensure after gaining experience as an E.I.T.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to function well in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Civil design team on a wide range of projects focused on drainage improvements including channel, detention basin and storm sewer design, along with site work and water distribution projects.
• Gain real‑world experience working on actual projects alongside licensed engineers that are experts in their fields.
• Assist on a variety of projects doing such things as calculations, cost estimates, and preparing design plans.
• Work on software and systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Google Earth and ArcPro
• Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.
• Go on 1‑2 site visits and see the projects we work on
• Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.
