Job summary

Emerson Electric Co. in Mansfield, MA is seeking a hands-on manufacturing technician to assemble and test relief valves across air, water, steam, ammonia, and gas applications.

You will set and adjust pressure, inspect seats for leakage, and perform stamping, tagging, and data plate work per specifications. The role requires blueprint reading, precision measurement with micrometers and gages, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment and the ability to read blueprints.
• Experience measuring devices such as micrometers, verniers, height and depth comparators, and air gages.
• Able to work with minimal direction.
• Willing to work unscheduled overtime to satisfy emergency or critical customer shipments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test relief valves to meet required pressure specifications.
• Make decisions on setting and adjusting valves to desired pressure and check for seat tightness.
• Perform assembly operations on valves including tagging, stamping nameplates, and attaching seals.
• Interpret orders for stamping of Nuclear, Navy and commercial nameplates.
• Perform preparation and painting operations per QA and customer requirements.
• Work from drawings to lap valves and nozzles using hand or machine tools.
• Operate two or more machines when needed.
• Use lapping and polishing compounds to achieve surface finish.
• Operate equipment including flow testing equipment.
• Interface daily with engineering, manufacturing, production control and Sales to meet on-time deliveries.
