Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is offering a Substation Engineering Intern role in the United States. You will work with experienced engineers to support projects delivering reliable electrical power to utilities, industrial facilities, and renewable energy clients.

You will gain hands-on exposure to engineering, design, and construction of substations, with mentorship and real-world project experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office is preferred; strong GPA and teamwork are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering, EET, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Strong interest in power systems, electrical infrastructure, and substation engineering.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Experience with AutoCAD or drafting software preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with the development and review of substation engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
• Support electrical design activities related to transmission and distribution substations.
• Help create and revise one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, conduit plans, grounding drawings, and construction packages.
• Perform engineering calculations under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities when project opportunities allow.
• Learn and apply engineering standards, codes, and industry best practices.
