Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Substation Engineering Intern to join our project teams in Cleveland. You will work with experienced engineers to support substation design, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in power delivery projects.

You will gain exposure to electrical design, protection and controls, and field construction. The program emphasizes mentorship, hands-on practice, and collaboration across disciplines while you develop engineering fundamentals and industry

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Strong interest in power systems, electrical infrastructure, and substation engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with the development and review of substation engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
• Support electrical design activities related to transmission and distribution substations.
• Help create and revise one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, conduit plans, grounding drawings, and construction packages.
• Perform engineering calculations under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities when project opportunities allow.
• Learn and apply engineering standards, codes, and industry best practices.
