Job summary

Mid-States is seeking a Structural Detailer/Designer to create access and support steel like stairs, platforms, ladders, and guards for our facilities. The role combines design and shop detailing, moving from layout to fabrication drawings and BOMs using Autodesk Inventor.

You will collaborate with Engineers of Record and our shop, with a clear path toward higher-level detailing roles. You will join a team investing in standards, tools, and training to raise quality.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in drafting, design, engineering technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of structural steel design or detailing experience; stairs, platforms and metals preferred.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, or strong experience in Tekla, SDS2, or AutoCAD and ability to transition.
• Working knowledge of AISC steel construction, connections, weldments and fabrication methods.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements for stairs, ladders, and guardrail.
• Bonus: engineering coursework or an engineering degree, or an EIT.
• Bonus: experience in agricultural or industrial facilities; Revit/Navisworks exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and model stairs, platforms, ladders, handrails, guardrails, catwalks, and support steel in Inventor.
• Apply OSHA requirements and customer specs to stair, ladder, and guardrail geometry.
• Prepare design packages for Engineer of Record review and incorporate markups.
• Produce shop and fabrication drawings, connection and member details, BOMs.
• Use standard connection details and designs, and help improve them.
• Manage revisions in Autodesk Vault and work with shop on fabrication questions.
• Build skills toward higher-level detailing roles.
