Job summary
Gridiron Air is seeking a Manager, Software Development and IT to design, build, and support our business applications while leading the IT function of a small carrier. The role combines hands-on software engineering with leadership of two direct reports and ownership of Azure-hosted apps, APIs, and Microsoft 365 integrations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/IT or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years designing, building, and supporting production business applications.
- Minimum 3 years leading technical staff, with direct reports or equivalent accountability.
- Demonstrated experience delivering business-critical applications that replaced a manual process or a vendor-hosted system.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and support internal business applications - web applications, APIs and services, Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, SharePoint solutions, and integrations - from requirements gathering through production support.
- Lead the replacement of vendor-hosted compliance and safety platforms with in-house applications; serve as the technical lead on these projects and personally contribute to their design and development.
- Deliver capabilities a regulated system of record requires: RBAC, versioning, approval workflows, electronic acknowledgment with audit trails, data retention, and evidence for FAA/auditors.
- Plan and execute data migration from incumbent vendor platforms with reconciliation, validation, cutover, and fallback plan.
- Design, develop, document, secure, and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations; manage interfaces across lifecycle, including versioning, authentication, monitoring, and deprecation.
- Own application hosting in Azure (App Services, Functions, databases, Entra ID), monitoring, cost management.
- Administer Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online; site/list architecture and permissions.
- Apply secure development practices, code reviews, automated testing, and release procedures.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Flight Operations to replace paper/manual processes with automated apps.
- Lead, develop, and direct two direct reports while performing hands-on technical work.
