Job summary

LiquidPiston in Suffield, CT invites an Engineering Intern for Fall 2026 to join the Skunkworks team. You will work hands-on with engineers to design, build, test, and improve real hardware, moving quickly from CAD to prototype.

You'll create CAD models in SolidWorks, analyze test data, and contribute to engine component integration while gaining exposure to troubleshooting and iterative development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Completed coursework in mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, or heat transfer.
• Experience with 3D CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret specs.
• Available to work onsite in Suffield, CT, M-F Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of rotary engine components.
• Create/modify CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Assist prototype builds and engine assembly.
• Test and troubleshoot hardware.
• Analyze test data to inform design changes.
• Participate in design reviews.
• Assist with manufacturing methods and tolerances.
• Iterate development - design, build, test, and learn.
• Handle multiple engineering problems.
