Job summary

Peckham Industries Inc. is seeking a Shop Manager to lead daily shop operations, oversee maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and diesel trucks, and ensure safety and productivity.

This role requires a seasoned mechanic with strong management skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will diagnose, service, and repair equipment, manage parts inventory, schedule preventive maintenance, mentor technicians, and coordinate with operations, safety, and finance to keep fleet

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate/bachelor’s preferred in Diesel Tech, Business Management, or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive diesel mechanics and heavy equipment maintenance experience; 3–5 years in management/supervisory role.
• Hands-on diagnostic, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment and diesel trucks as needed.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and shop management software; experience with parts procurement and inventory.”

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of technicians, ensuring safe, efficient work.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment including asphalt pavers, milling machines, loaders, and excavators.
• Implement regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Manage parts inventory and procurement to support timely repairs.
• Recruit, train, and coach technicians; conduct performance evaluations.
• Maintain accurate service records and logs for compliance and transparency.
• Coordinate with operations, safety, procurement and finance to align maintenance with business needs.
• Enforce safety standards and adherence to regulatory requirements.
