Job summary

Academy Express in Atlanta, GA seeks a highly skilled Bus Mechanic with manager skills to lead a diesel bus fleet maintenance operation. You will manage a team of mechanics and cleaning staff, oversee a diesel garage, and perform hands-on repairs while developing your team.

The role includes diagnosing engines and transmissions, conducting preventative maintenance, and coordinating with vendors. CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements is required, with a competitive hourly pay rate.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance.
• Must have supervisory experience and own tools.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks and welding equipment.
• Familiar with diagnostic devices such as DDEC/ATEC readers and related gear.
• CDL license with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements required.

Responsibilities

• Train and supervise diesel mechanics and cleaning staff.
• Hands-on maintenance of the assigned bus fleet.
• Repair, troubleshooting and diagnosis of bus engines and transmissions.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections, respond to road calls.
• Document warranty and repairs; supervise operations and vendor sourcing.
• Perform general welding and fabrication as needed.
