Job summary

Academy Busis seeks a full-time, hands-on Diesel Bus Maintenance Manager for our Capitol Heights, MD facility. You will manage a team of mechanics and cleaners, oversee the diesel bus maintenance garage, and be hands-on with repairs and team development.

Responsibilities include training staff, performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing engines, handling road calls, and coordinating with vendors. CDL with Passenger/Airbrake endorsements is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance.
• Must have supervisory experience; must have own tools.
• Proven ability to use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, pullers, VOA instruments, reamers, welding equipment.
• Proficient in diagnostic devices such as DDEC readers, ATEC readers, SmarTire, schematics, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipment.
• Basic computer skills.
• CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements required.

Responsibilities

• Reconditioning, preventative and routine maintenance.
• Inspections and road tests.
• Warranty and repair documentation.
• Diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components listed in the spec.
• Respond to road calls.
• Oversee upholstery repairs including interior and lavatory.
• Supervise wheel, tire and alignment shops and source local vendors.
• General welding/fabrication.

• Diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components such as: Diesel engines, electronic systems/motors/controls, drive line components, tires, bearings, brake systems, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, belts, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages, radiators, heating, air conditioning, alternators, generators, voltage regulators, suspensions, seating, steering, and glass.
• Respond to road calls
• Oversee upholstery repairs including entire interior and lavatory
• Supervise wheel, tire and alignment shops and source local vendors as needed
