Job summary

Gimlet Labs is seeking Data Center Technicians to support daily operations, hardware deployments, and site bring-ups across our growing infrastructure. You will rack, stack, cable, label, validate, troubleshoot, and document high-density compute systems while working with Site Managers, Deployment Leads, Network Engineers, Logistics, vendors, and remote hands teams.

This hands-on role requires practical data center experience, familiarity with Linux and BMC/IPMI, and a readiness for off-hours

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in data center hardware and IT operations.
• Experience with servers, racks, PDUs, cabling, and optics.
• Ability to troubleshoot methodically and document findings.
• Familiarity with Linux, BMC/IPMI, BIOS, PXE, and validation workflows.
• Willingness to work in an active data center and occasional off-hours.

Responsibilities

• Execute rack, stack, cable, labeling, hardware deployment, site expansion, and audit work for current and future Gimlet sites.
• Troubleshoot servers, GPUs, storage, network links, optics, cabling, BMC/IPMI, firmware, and Linux-based systems.
• Perform break/fix work, component swaps, RMA support, hands-on testing, ticket closure, and operational maintenance.
• Maintain accurate asset records, rack elevations, cabling documentation, inventory records, spares tracking, and site notes.
• Support network turn-ups and validation work with Network Deployment Engineers, including optics, cabling paths, patching, and interface checks.
• Follow runbooks, checklists, safety practices, and data center procedures while helping improve them as the environment scales.
• Communicate status, blockers, risks, and completion evidence clearly to site leadership and deployment teams.
• Participate in maintenance windows, urgent site work, and on-call or escalation coverage as needed.
