Job summary

Bitter Neumann Furniture is seeking a hands-on Accountant to own its accounting function and partner with ownership on financial decisions. The role focuses first on bringing books current, establishing a reliable monthly close, and delivering timely, accurate reporting.

The successful candidate will oversee general accounting, financial reporting, inventory accounting, cash management, and related operational processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Strong knowledge of GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Experience in retail, consumer products, distribution, or inventory-heavy environment.
• Experience with inventory turnover, margins and profitability analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash reports).
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Post journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee inventory-related accounting and reporting.
• Monitor inventory valuation, turnover, and aging.
• Provide financial insight to leadership in clear business terms.
• Support cash-flow reporting and working-capital management.
