Employee Relations Associates, Inc. seeks a Product Engineer in Concord, NC to improve mechanical products and develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids.

You will work on real-world challenges, refine designs for manufacturability and reliability, and move CAD concepts into production. The role blends mechanical design, product improvement, and tooling development, with collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and successful

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional experience in mechanical design, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency with NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or a comparable 3D CAD platform.
• Experience creating detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerancing.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, forming, and mechanical assembly.
• Hands-on with physical products, components, prototypes, tooling, and fixtures.

Responsabilités

• Modify and improve existing mechanical products, components, and assemblies based on feedback and needs.
• Develop practical design solutions to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and assembly.
• Design jigs, fixtures, tooling, workholding, and other equipment for manufacturing.
• Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and documentation.
• Evaluate designs and identify opportunities to improve fit, function, tolerances, durability, manufacturability, and assembly.
• Apply design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly principles.
• Troubleshoot product, component, tooling, and fixture issues and develop design solutions.
• Reverse engineer components as needed to support redesign.
• Support fabrication, testing, and validation of design changes and tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, fabricators, suppliers to confirm feasibility.
• Manage engineering changes and maintain drawings, BOMs, and product docs.
• Support product improvements through implementation and address issues.
• Take ownership of assigned projects from problem identification through design, validation, and implementation.
