State Street is seeking a hands-on Process Automation Engineer to design and support automated business workflows within Process Engineering & Automation. You will code, wire integrations, and convert manual processes into automation that holds up in a regulated environment.
The role collaborates with the Process Automation Lead, business architecture, and technology teams to translate designs into working software, balancing practical tooling with reliable production readiness.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in software engineering, process automation, or solution delivery.
- Hands-on coder who writes and reviews code regularly.
- Experience building workflow automation on low-code/orchestration platforms with system integration.
- Solid fundamentals: APIs, integration patterns, testing, SDLC.
- Experience in a regulated environment with controls and matrix-organization delivery.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Responsibilities
- Build automation in Appian or similar, writing code weekly.
- Turn manual, high-friction workflows into reliable software.
- Own end-to-end delivery, ensuring security, resilience, and maintainability.
- Connect systems with clean APIs and sensible contracts.
- Write tests, fix defects, and monitor production readiness.
- Explore AI/agentic automation and pilot promising tools.
- Work across pods with product owners, platform engineers, and service teams.
- Follow delivery controls and propose improvements when needed.
