Job summary

University of Florida 4-H environmental educators deliver engaging, hands-on marine and environmental education to K-12 students through day programs, residentials, and outreach. You will teach pre-designed curricula, organize activities, and assist with animal care in on-site facilities.

This OPS seasonal position offers an hourly wage of $16.50, typically about 30 hours per week, with housing available on-site and professional certifications (First Aid, CPR, AED, waterfront lifeguarding)

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in sciences, education, natural resources, youth development, recreational leadership or related fields.
• Must pass a Background Screening prior to hire.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach, organize, and evaluate educational programs focused on Florida’s marine resources for students in grades K-12 through day programs, residentials, and outreach.
• Provide programmatic support to maintain and increase marine and environmental education classes, activities, and materials.
• Assist with animal care for education animals.
• Help maintain clean facilities used for on-site programs.
• May assist with dining hall duties for on-site programs.
• Support other programmatic responsibilities as needed.
