Job summary

TMMG, LLC is seeking an experienced Marine Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer to support an expanding vessel new-construction program. This hands-on role covers design, integration, commissioning, and testing of automated shipboard systems while collaborating with engineering, production, software, and vendor teams.

The ideal candidate has strong machinery controls, PLC, automation, and Siemens SIMATIC/TIA Portal experience, and must be comfortable working aboard vessels under

Qualifications

• Hands-on troubleshooting in marine/shipyard environments.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, and sensors.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software/control logic.
• Experience supporting system startup, commissioning, or testing.
• Ability to work aboard vessels under construction and in active production.

Responsibilities

• Support design, installation, commissioning, and testing of shipboard electrical, automation, and machinery-control systems.
• Translate requirements into functional control logic and PLC implementation.
• Develop, review, modify, and troubleshoot PLC logic including ladder logic and interlocks.
• Support SIMATIC PLC and TIA Portal applications and other industrial platforms.
• Integrate PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, sensors, actuators, VFDs, MCCs, and motor controllers.
• Perform I/O checkout, loop checks, startup, and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot system problems across wiring, instrumentation, and networks.
• Document changes, test results, deficiencies, and final configuration.
• Provide hands-on engineering support during vessel construction to resolve issues.
