Job summary

Sacoma Specialty Products is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with metal fabrication experience. This role sits on the manufacturing floor, collaborating with engineers, production, maintenance, and leadership to improve processes and safety while delivering quality and cost improvements.

The position emphasizes practical problem solving, quick impact, and continuous improvement in a climate-controlled facility serving multiple industries.

Qualifications

• Hands-on manufacturing problem solving, fabrication-focused
• Experience reading blueprints/schematics, wiring diagrams
• Experience with heavy industrial equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs while applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
• Develop manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assist production with programming and adjusting robotic MIG welders and resistance welders.
• Ensure product and process quality by designing testing methods, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
• Calculate production, labor, and material costs while reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
• Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing data and trends.
• Investigate current manufacturing technologies and implement mechanical improvements to create more repeatable, stable, and reliable manufacturing processes.
• Implement mechanical improvements to production equipment while maintaining equipment, process, and part specifications.
• Perform hands-on improvements to manufacturing equipment approximately 70% of the time.
• Research and cost improvement opportunities approximately 25% of the time.
• Perform clerical responsibilities, including purchase orders and project timelines, approximately 5% of the time.
