Job summary

Kellermeyer Bergensons Services (KBS) is seeking a Handyperson to perform light maintenance across client facilities in Illinois. You will work on preventive maintenance, repairs, and routine tasks, while ensuring safety and regulatory standards are met.

This is a full-time position offering benefits and opportunities for growth. Key duties include handling work orders,site access and safety tasks, and coordinating with KBS Dispatch/Operations.

Qualifications

• 3 or more years' experience in building maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional, prompt customer service and communications.
• Maintain SIDA badge compliance; escort subcontractors in restricted areas where applicable.
• Support regular customer building audits/walkthroughs to achieve a pass, addressing findings promptly.
• Receive, acknowledge, execute, update, and close out work orders as directed by KBS Dispatch/Operations; otherwise provide timely updates, photos, and completion notes.
• Upload required documentation (status notes, photos, proposals, completion details) per customer requirements.
• Elevate scope changes, emergent hazards, or specialty trade needs to KBS Dispatch/Operations.
• General facility maintenance and minor repairs (doors, fixtures, lighting, plumbing).
• HVAC filter changes, condensate/drain maintenance, and routine housekeeping.
• Lighting maintenance, electrical support, and basic troubleshooting.
• Overhead door preventive maintenance and basic maintenance.
• General preventive maintenance on in-building assets and infrastructure.
• Repair/adjust doors and closers; reset door codes as directed.
• Paint and patching; repair/replace general hardware.
• Dismantle/move/install furnishings and racking components.
• Operate scissor lift and common maintenance equipment safely (certification preferred).
• Maintain building safety/security while working and when escorting third-party vendors.
