Job summary

gpac is partnering with a growing, family-owned pet food manufacturer in Illinois to hire an experienced Maintenance Manager. You will lead the maintenance department, drive equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and downtime reduction while working closely with technicians, operations, and plant leadership.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of maintenance management, strong mechanical and electrical skills, CMMS experience, and a track record of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in maintenance management or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and conveyance systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
• CMMS experience.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to be hands-on and flexible hours as needed.
• Food manufacturing or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
• Mechanical engineering background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and manage the maintenance team.
• Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
• Manage CMMS work orders, scheduling, and asset tracking.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and conveyance systems.
• Analyze downtime and maintenance data for improvements.
• Maintain critical spare parts and maintenance inventory.
• Partner with Operations to minimize downtime.
• Support capital and plant improvement projects.
• Manage outside vendors and contractors.
• Ensure maintenance meets safety and food safety standards.
• Promote accountability, reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on support to technicians when needed.
