Job summary

Arc Institute is seeking a Laboratory Operations Assistant to join the Scientific Operations team in Palo Alto for an initial 6‑month period with potential conversion to full-time based on performance and business needs.

The role focuses on hands‑on, manual labor including media preparation, ordering consumables, glassware prep, and basic equipment support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and safety-driven with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years prior laboratory operations experience.
• BS degree in biological sciences required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally move heavy equipment.
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical skills.
• Proactive and self-starting attitude.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Prolonged periods standing and walking; capable of bending, lifting and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Perform media preparation and media QC.
• Order and restock consumables and other laboratory materials.
• Clean, sterilize, prepare, and distribute glassware and manage inventory.
• Assist with laundering of lab coats, scrubs, and towels.
• Assist with basic equipment maintenance, moving, and installation.
• Assist with gas management (CO2, LN2, dry ice).
• Backup for shipping/receiving and chemical inventory management.
• Follow safety guidelines and communicate clearly with lab members.
