Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Lab Support and Mechanical Support Engineer in San Diego to design, build, install, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware for post-silicon validation labs.

The role blends CAD work with hands-on lab execution and coordination across multiple engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in engineering support or lab operations, experience with fixture development, and proficiency in Creo/SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Fusion

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant technical experience or an associate/technical certification, or a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering support, validation or laboratory operations.
• Hands-on experience assembling, installing, configuring, modifying, troubleshooting, repairing, or maintaining physical hardware and lab equipment.
• Experience with automated handlers, thermal equipment, racks and test equipment for post-silicon validation labs.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and mechanical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, draft, build, install, configure, inspect, and sustain lab hardware and fixtures.
• Create or modify 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or Inventor.
• Assemble prototype hardware using 3D-printed, CNC-machined, laser-cut, or sheet-metal components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical integration issues.
• Support validation platforms, development boards, and automated handlers in the lab.
