Job summary

JobTrain is seeking a Building Maintenance with HVAC Instructor for in-person instruction in Menlo Park, CA. The role requires designing, delivering, and updating curriculum, and guiding students through hands-on HVAC and building maintenance training.

You will collaborate with fellow instructors to ensure safety, competency, and successful student placement. The position is full-time, Monday–Friday mornings, with 40 hours including teaching and prep time.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in Building Maintenance and HVAC industries
• Strong understanding of electrical concepts and safety practices
• Proven experience in instructional design and delivering effective training
• Strong communication and presentation skills for classroom instruction
• Ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse learners
• Proficiency with instructional technology and tools
• Providing quality career technical training leading to student placement
• Demonstrated safety procedures in use of tools and equipment
• Instructing on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems
• Experience with OSHA regulations and compliance
• Ability to manage records, attendance, and schedules

Responsibilities

• Design and update curricula for Building Maintenance with HVAC, aligned with industry standards
• Instruct and supervise students in HVAC systems, electrical work, plumbing, and safety
• Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions
• Assess student progress through tests, observations, and skill evaluations
• Maintain records of attendance, hours of instruction, and course content
• Oversee labs/workshops and ensure safe, compliant practices
• Guide students to apply theory to practical building maintenance scenarios
• Collaborate with industry partners to connect graduates with opportunities
• Attend faculty meetings and participate in professional development
• Adhere to school policies and participate in graduation activities
• Promote JobTrain mission, values, and learning objectives
• Maintain equipment and training facilities in safe condition
• Provide OSHA/CPR/First Aid guidance and certifications when applicable
