Job summary

The County of Kauai seeks a Heavy Vehicle & Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee to assist in the repair and maintenance of its fleet. This role offers on-the-job training and requires a combination of education and prior automotive repair experience.

Qualifications

• 2.5 years of automotive repair experience under a journey level mechanic.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Ability to perform minor welding in connection with repair work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses mechanical failures of heavy vehicles and construction equipment.
• Inspects, repairs, and replaces various parts and systems.
• Receives on-the-job training for complex hydraulic and electrical systems.
