Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. in Northwest Indiana is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems at our Northwest Indiana site.

This hands‑on role is ideal for someone with wastewater or environmental fieldwork experience, groundwater sampling, and subcontractor oversight. You will work with a supportive team on interesting projects, perform routine inspections, collect samples, keep accurate records, and follow safety procedures,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience in wastewater, environmental fieldwork, or mechanical maintenance.
• Mechanical skills and ability to use hand and power tools.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification a plus (training provided).
• First aid and CPR training.
• Confined space and lock-out/tag-out training.
• Experience with sample collection and shipping.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain groundwater pumps, wells, piping, and treatment equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment like pumps, flow meters, and control systems (PLCs).
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
• Collect and handle water and waste samples for testing.
• Maintenance of property, such as gravel access roads, including snow removal.
• Keep accurate records of your work and report data using company computers.
• Follow safety rules and company procedures at all times.
• Be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work for emergencies.
