Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems at our Northwest Indiana site.

This hands-on role offers exposure to wastewater and environmental fieldwork, with opportunities to learn and grow within a supportive team. You will perform inspections, collect samples, troubleshoot equipment, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Some experience in wastewater, environmental fieldwork, or mechanical maintenance.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus (training provided).
• First aid and CPR training.
• Confined space and lock-out/tag-out training.
• Experience with sample collection and shipping.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain groundwater pumps, wells, piping, and treatment equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment like pumps, flow meters, and control systems (PLCs).
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
• Collect and handle water and waste samples for testing.
• Maintenance of property, such as gravel access roads, including snow removal.
• Keep accurate records of your work and report data using company computers.
• Follow safety rules and company procedures at all times.
• Be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work for emergencies.

GES is looking for a hands-on Environmental Field Technician to help operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems at our site in Northwest Indiana. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in wastewater or environmental fieldwork, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, landfill inspections, who wants to work on interesting projects with a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities
