Job summary

Mustang Transportation in Idaho Falls seeks an experienced Shop Manager who will both work on vehicles and lead the maintenance team. You will manage inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance scheduling to keep school buses, shuttle buses, motor coaches, and other company vehicles safe and ready.

The role combines hands-on mechanical work with supervision, prioritization, and vendor coordination to minimize downtime and ensure quality repairs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or fleet mechanic.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills for diesel-powered vehicles.
• Experience supervising or leading mechanics.
• CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred, or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical work on buses and fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, air brake, suspension, steering, HVAC systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services per manufacturer guidance.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Lead, train, and supervise other mechanics; assign work and monitor progress.
• Ensure safety and compliance with DOT/FMCSA rules and company policies.
