Job summary

Select Genetics is seeking a Farm Maintenance role to perform hands-on repairs and routine maintenance across our facilities. You will apply electrical, welding, plumbing, and mechanical skills to support day-to-day farm operations and keep equipment in good working order.

The position requires strong troubleshooting, the ability to lift heavy loads, on-call availability, and the willingness to work long hours, including weekends, in outdoor farm environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of maintenance experience.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt time and efforts to high priority areas, including rotating schedules.
• Able to lift over 50 lbs., push/pull, bend and squat, and handle repetitive tasks.
• Ability to walk/stand long periods on concrete surfaces.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Not associated with backyard poultry, foul, or swine off duty.
• Proven problem solving and change facilitation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair facilities including welding, electrical, ventilation, heating, plumbing, and hi‑pressure air and water.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Work in a culture of strong employee teams.
• Maintain all facilities and equipment and the company vehicle used.
• Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Inspect and upkeep facilities and equipment routinely.
• Repair, replace and build wooden structures as needed (including concrete pads).
• Transfer equipment between farms as required.
• Address system failures including lighting, feeding, environmental controls, and heating.
• Maintain and repair security systems, generators, phones, small engines, tractors, and farm machinery.
• Operate tools such as bobcat, electric drill, wrenches, and screwdrivers safely.
• Report issues to the maintenance supervisor about interiors/exteriors, climate control, damages, or pest problems.
