Job summary

Alpert JFS is seeking a Facilities Technician to support the Facilities Director in day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and operation of the facilities. This hands-on role rewards initiative and reliable problem solving.

You will perform general repairs, painting, plumbing, carpentry, and room setups, and you will communicate status and needs with the Facilities Director. The position values practical work, safety, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in facilities maintenance or related fields preferred.
• Knowledge of painting, drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and decide when to escalate.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform general handyman and facility maintenance work, including minor repairs, painting, patching, and basic carpentry.
• Proactively inspect facilities and address issues without waiting for a work request.
• Identify maintenance needs and take appropriate action.
• Handle routine repairs involving doors, locks, cabinets, furniture, fixtures, shelving, and equipment.
• Assist with minor plumbing issues such as clogged drains and faucet repairs.
• Complete painting projects, drywall patching, and cosmetic improvements.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and scheduled facility projects.
• Coordinate access to outside vendors and contractors when requested.
• Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and workspaces in a safe, organized manner.
• Document completed work and outstanding issues.
