Job summary

Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, in collaboration with Utah State University, seeks an Elementary Youth Programs Coordinator to develop, deliver, and evaluate hands-on environmental education for ages 5–13. The role emphasizes field trips, school outreach, and after-school programs in a nature-rich setting.

The coordinator will lead program design, mentor staff and volunteers, and ensure safe, engaging learning experiences while partnering with the Director of Youth Programs to align schedules,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience working with youth in a formal or informal educational setting.
• Valid driver’s license to drive university vehicles and transport materials.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead educator to deliver hands-on programs to youth aged 5 to 13; develop science-based curricula; plan schedules and themes; assist with daily operations, registrations, data collection, and program evaluation.
• Deliver SEEd Standard-aligned lessons during field trips and classroom outreach; maintain and create curriculum for school partners; build rapport with teachers and staff; assist in documenting program impacts.
• Oversee and mentor education staff and volunteers; maintain program supplies, educational materials, and facility resources.
• Support Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter initiatives and events; perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
