Job summary

Peckham, a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization in Lansing, MI, seeks a Custodial Services Supervisor to lead a team in maintaining a clean, safe facility and to support our mission-driven work.

You will supervise daily operations, train staff, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to OSHA standards while coordinating with management on inventory and safety initiatives. A strong leader with 1–2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in custodial, facilities, or operational setting.
• Valid driver’s license if travel between sites is required.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment operation and chemical safety protocols.
• Strong organizational and time management skills for scheduling and task management.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team with fairness and consistency.
• Proficiency with standard supervisory software (email, timekeeping, reporting).
• Experience managing multiple teams or shifts (preferred).
• OSHA 10-hour certification (preferred).
• Ability to ensure quality through daily inspections and coaching.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day custodial operations, assignments, shift coverage, and timekeeping.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety standards.
• Train and coach staff with hands-on demonstrations and on-the-spot feedback.
• Participate in performance evaluations and resolve staff issues professionally.
• Enforce OSHA and company safety policies and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and coordinate replenishment or repairs.
• Address customer complaints and supply shortages promptly.
• Lead by example performing custodial duties and special projects like floor care.
• Support KPI monitoring and data-informed decision making.
• Serve as escalation point for complex client concerns and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate on cross-functional projects to align custodial with organizational goals.
• Oversee emergency response protocols related to custodial services.
