Job summary

United Launch Alliance seeks a Composite Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Decatur, AL. You will gain hands-on experience in composite materials development, fabrication, and testing while supporting a team of engineers.

This full-time summer internship requires actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, a 3.0 GPA, and the ability to work 10 weeks. You’ll engage in systems engineering activities, quality assurance, and production tasks at ULA’s Decatur site.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• GPA 3.00/4.00 required; unofficial transcript may be requested.
• Must be able to commit to 10 weeks in Summer 2027 and enroll Fall 2027.
• Enrollment in Fall 2027 in an engineering program is required.
• Must be able to complete internship in Decatur, AL.

Responsibilities

• Assist PMP team with development, fabrication, and testing of non-metallic materials in composites.
• Support materials testing and contribute to process-improvement initiatives.
• Provide production support for composite structures (e.g., payload fairings, heatshields).
• Assist with issue resolution during layup, cure, machining, integration, and acceptance.
• Participate in hardware acceptance activities and build-paper reviews.
• Engage in systems engineering activities including requirements and interfaces.
• Shadow engineers and contribute to larger projects in production operations.
• Travel to suppliers/customers as required and support onsite activities at Decatur site.
