Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Biomed Equipment Technician Apprentice in Kansas City, KS. The 2-year apprenticeship covers hands-on repair, calibration, preventive maintenance and installation of diagnostic and physiological monitoring devices used in patient care.

Applicants will complete OSHA 10, anatomy/physiology, algebra/calculus, DC/AC electronics, 70 hours of training, with CABT and IT Fundamentals certifications pursued. Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair, calibration, preventive maintenance and installation of diagnostic and patient care equipment.
• Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate documentation on inspections, repairs and failures.
• Provide technical assistance and instruction to clinical staff.
• Schedule and oversee vendor and third-party repairs as necessary.
• Maintain inventory and track equipment additions and deactivations.
