Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking senior staff-level backend engineers to lead scalability and infrastructure initiatives in a Cambridge-based, in-office role. You will mentor teams of 5–6 engineers while hands-on coding in TypeScript and Node.js, building cloud-native, data-driven backend services.

Ideal candidates have led high-performance systems, managed distributed architectures, and delivered large-scale data solutions using AWS.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software projects with teams of 5-6 engineers.
• Background on online databases, platform infrastructure, or customer-facing backend services.
• Experience at product-focused technology companies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• 40% Designing and building scalable backend services and cloud infrastructure.
• 25% Leading technical projects and coordinating efforts across teams of 5-6 engineers.
• 15% Architecting new product features and platform capabilities.
• 10% Performance tuning, scalability improvements, and reliability initiatives.
• 10% Mentoring engineers and contributing to technical strategy.
