Job summary

Harbor Industries, Inc. in Michigan seeks an Assembly & Build Specialist to hands-on assemble production fixtures, hardware, and components following build instructions and prints.

You will support production teams, identify problems, and improve build processes with careful measurement and tool use. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work from instructions and verbal direction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1+ years experience in construction, fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance or a related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand component fit.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, diagrams, schematics, and drawings.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong understanding of hand and power tools, with willingness to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify build issues, missing components, or design concerns and communicate information to Lead, Supervisor or Manager
• Make recommendations for production assembly aids
• Use hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment safely and effectively
• Measure, fit, drill, cut and fasten as required for assembly
• Identify, count, label and package hardware and components according to project requirements
• Follow work instructions and build specifications to build and assemble production fixtures, displays, components, and sub assemblies
• Work hands-on with assembly on complex builds and communicate effectively with assembly staff to understand how to best use your expertise to improve build processes
• Perform quality checks throughout the build process to ensure finished products meet specifications
• Float, as needed, to use knowledge and skills to assist other departments such as completing general facility repairs, prototype and sample projects, and assisting with painting, patching, and facility upkeep
