Job summary

Shield AI offers a paid internship program for Fall and Spring graduates, providing hands-on mentorship, real contributions, and potential job offers. Interns work on the Air Vehicle Systems and Test Teams to develop, integrate, and verify mechanical and fluid systems for autonomous aircraft, from requirements to design improvements.

You will own scoped projects, translate objectives into clear plans, and collaborate across teams while gaining exposure to CAD, testing, and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Strong foundation in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, physics, and mathematics; some electrical/programming fluency.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped design project and translate objectives into requirements, interfaces, success criteria, a build plan, and a test approach.
• Develop CAD models and drawings for brackets, mounts, tooling, fixtures, routing, or hardware while considering loads, tolerances, manufacturability.
• Define instrumentation and data-acquisition needs; write test procedures; support testing under mentor supervision.
• Reduce and interpret test data, compare results with requirements, and document conclusions.
