Job summary

Qualified Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead to support NASA’s Aircraft Operations Division at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

This role blends hands-on engineering with leadership to deliver critical aircraft solutions and engage with NASA customers. You will supervise a small multidisciplinary team, perform design, modification, testing, and fabrication activities, and ensure safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with related experience.
• 12+ years (or 9+ with Master’s) of engineering experience.
• At least 3 years leading an engineering team.
• Experience in aviation/aerospace across the full project lifecycle.
• Recent experience with 3D modeling and drawing support per standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on engineering work (~80%) while leading a small multidisciplinary team (~20%).
• Provide daily guidance, technical direction, and ensure alignment with objectives.
• Create/modify 3D models and assemblies in Creo Parametric.
• Generate and maintain 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Oversee engineering products, including structural analysis and systems integration.
• Plan staffing, schedules, and priorities to meet cost, schedule, and performance.
• Interface with NASA customers to align solutions with mission needs.
• Identify risks, evaluate options, and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Brief senior management on status, metrics, and outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative, safety-focused team culture.
